CURRENTLY UNAVAILABLE. The Christy knife has a unique sliding blade that opens and closes with one hand. It locks into position with three different blade lengths. Lightweight, slim, neat and practical, Christy knives are perfect for a key chain, the pocket or the purse. No rough edges or square corners. Replaceable stainless surgical steel blade. Extremely sharp. A good choice for left hand use.

Manufactured in Fremont, Ohio, the Christy knife has been around for over 106 years with the same standards of high quality. Tough and durable, Christy knives come with a Lifetime Warranty from the manufacturer. Gift boxed with a key ring.

That looks great for a PSK, especially a small altoids tin sized one.

Will have to keep an eye out for those.

Yes I have a few of those. Very handy. Some had advertisement on the blade.

There's five of 'em available on ebay now $5-$27 handy little keychain or PSK knife although I'd personally use an SAK for a PSK knife, more bang for your buck.

Yes. I actually have one. It belonged to my grandfather. It is a nice small knife for a keychain, but there are better alternatives for even that duty or a PSK.

Here's a link to thier site, they're still in production and apparently some are very expensive.

Christy Knife Co.

They also made serrated bread knives a long time ago.

Mods if this type of linkin' is not appropriate for this forum please delete the link and if any one wants the link you can email me.

Low Tech Knives in a High Tech World

I'm currently working on assembling knives for Part Two of "Low Tech Knives in a High Tech World."

Great articles Don, nice to see you hanging out here again!
:)

I think i actually have one of those periscope kids toys you mentioned in your articles.
Its tucked away in an old box in my parents basement.
Next time i'm there i'll check, maybe take some pics!

My dad always carried a pocketknife, but on the job he used a Christy for opening packages and cutting twine. They are simple little knives from our point of view, but before most other one-handers, a Christy was a simple and convenient way to open, use, and close a knife with one hand while holding the item to be cut with the other.

Cold Steel had a similar knife with a thicker Zytel handle and serrated blade. I had their ER-1 sheepsfoot.

Thank you. I had some rather severe problems with a computer that actually lasted me about five years. It was crashing all the time in the spring and early summer. It finally made the desktop look like smeared toothpaste on the screen and died. I had a reserve and after loading up anti-virus software on it, it lasted 45 days...so, make sure you have good protection, there are still people out there writing bad stuff...

That would be cool to see. Remember in almost every science book geared towards kids there were the plans to make one out of a quart milk carton and a couple of small mirrors, back when quart milk cartons were readily available in the cardboard form?

Those are neato. But I wonder if they'd be as tough as my Douk Douk's, which are very tough, very sharp knives, and slim also.

No, the Christy is fragile compared to The Mighty Douk-Douk. 8-)

The stainless steel Douk-Douk which is not in my article but will be in the next one, is a real winner as well. The German K55 "Black Cat" is also an awesome little folder that will take a terrific edge and has the same basic construction with the addition of a lockback.

Sorry to hear about the 'puter. I was running a 6 year old pc until it died a year ago. Luckily i haven't had any major problems with the new one (crosses fingers), lol.
I'm in desperate need of more ram though, lol.
