Chromium bar

There is a piece of bar, the seller said it is pure chrome. It is damn hard to work. I didnt see any knife with any chrome fittings. I plan to use it for bolsters.
All I ask can this thing be anodized? I want to color it pale purple. Yes I can use SS or Ti but this is sitting in my stock for a year, I like to use what I have before buying something new.
