Chrysler Concorde transmission problem

Last Thursday, my Concorde broke down. I lost forward and reserve, and it felt like the car was in neutral. After shutting it down, I figured I would try it again, and got forward back, and was able to pull off the road. Later, I had forward, but no reverse. The transmission filter has been changed, forward is back for the time being, but still no reverse. A short internet search shows that this is a problem with Chrysler products, especially around my year, 1996. Anyone got any ideas? I have a spare transmission, but would like to try to save this one, only has 117K.

Thanks

Dan

I had a 98 concord and the tranny sucked. All my gears worked but every week I had to put in about 1/2L of tranny fluid. Mine leaked like son of a gun, Oil too. Had it fixed lots of times, but the problems kept coming back until I sold the thing.

Sorry to hear about you car- hope you can get it working better than mine...

My '94 New Yorker had that exact problem. The new transaxle only cost me $300 more than the car did. From what the mechanic told me, when reverse goes there is no saving it.
