Just finished photographing this beauty made by Chuck Gedraitis. This folder operates as nice as it looks. The engraving by David Riccardo is quite interesting to look at as each side is a mirror of the other.

Maker: Chuck Gedraitis
Engraver: David Riccardo
Blade: Forged 1095 with Hamon
Handle: Stag
Bolsters: 416 Stainless

Great pics Cory,
The engraving inspiration is taken from a 4th century Viking stone carving called Lady of the Beasts.

This remarkable 4th century Viking stone carving from Sweden shows the Goddess in her rule of the animals. She squats in the birth position as Creator of Life, holding two serpents, a symbol of fertility. The serpent-holding goddess is a well-known figure, perhaps the most famous example found in Crete. Amazingly, three animals above her form a large triple spiral, which has long associations with Goddess sites, including 5000 year-old Newgrange. The animals are the boar, which is earth; the bird, which is sky; and the snake, which is water. Thus, through these symbols and imagery, she is tied to all earthly creation.

Its pretty cool Chuck. The placement of the lower screw and the look on her face makes me LOL

I'm sorry, fellas, I just have to ask. Has anyone else noticed the hamon, it's an long oval just setting on the blade, when it should have a gradual beginning at the ricasso then flowing down the blade. I don't know, maybe it's just me, but when I look at the knife that's all I can see.

David,
It's easy to do a gradual hamon on a fighter, bowie or drop point blade, it's another thing when trying to keep it symmetrical on a dagger style folder blade. The oval is the less hard portion of the blade showing that the rest of the blade including the pivot hole and the area where the detent rides is hardened. I could have done a gradual hamon but it would not have the same look.

Here is a similar design with a gradual hamon which fits the design.

Dave i like the engraving but was commenting on the actual knife. sometimes all people say is wow that's nice ivory which isn't really a compliment to the maker. So in this case I just wanted to compliment the maker on the knife. I do like the way the bolsters are done that way

my bad! apologies I really like chucks knife, guess I read it wrong

also can attest to the operation of it ,its fast ,smooth and locks up tight. Really like the top pic!
