Here are the specifications as I measured them.
Handle length: 4 1/8
Blade length: 3 1/8
Edge length around the curve: 3 1/16
Blade thickness: .115
Liner thickness: .054
Overall thickness less clip: 9/16
Weight: 4.13 oz.
Fit and finish are extremely good. There is no play in the blade, even with the liner unlocked, yet the blade movement is very smooth and easy to open and close. When I say smooth, I mean SMOOTH. Better than any axis lock or custom that I have looked at so far. Blade grind is perfectly symmetrical to the naked eye and ground to a thin (.015) edge. The stud for opening the blade is very nicely done. It is smooth, no knurling, but as easy as this knife is to open, knurling would detract from the overall finish and is not necessary.
Since this isnt my knife, I didnt do any testing to see how well the edge holds up or how strong the lock actually is, but lock engagement appears spot on and the liners look to be stainless. There is no stick to the lock bar and whether it is opened quickly or slowly, the lock always engages fully.
There are only one thing I would improve on this knife. I think the clip could use some refining. It appears to be soft steel and the edges of the clip should be smoothed or rounded off. Having the clip makes the knife more accessible, but I think it detracts from its overall appearance. This is just opinion, of course so take it for what it is worth.
Other than that I think this is a fine example of the knife makers craft. If one is in the market for a Damascus folder in the trapper pattern, I would highly recommend this knife. Especially at this price.
My sincere thanks to Sigifrith for letting us pass around this knife. It truly is a wonderful piece and the desert ironwood is just to nice for words.
