Through the course of my Schade education I've come across the "Cigar Box" Schrades. Are they any good? When were they made? Were they made by Schrade or assembled from Schrade parts after the company folded. I've seen a model I'm intersted in and the going price seems to be around $50...is that a fair price for what they are? I know that is a subjective question so I guess a better one is would YOU buy one of these?

There are genuine Schrade Cigar Box knives, and the other ones that are still being made. I would make sure it says Made In USA on the box. These were made around 2002 - 2004. There are several different series. I believe the authentic ones say Ellenville and the year of production somewhere on the box. They are well made knives with bone handles.

Yep, thawk is right, first set was 02, second was 03, and the last set was 03 into 04. See links below, they are in order of years produced. I have a set of the 02 brown bone knives.
These are better in quality than standard OT's and UH's and all have geniune bone handles. Nice sets to complete. I have not seen the 04 knives sold in the boxes, only loose knives. Things were changing a lot at Schrade during early 2004.
