circular scuffings near the pivot?

I just ordered a dragonfly2 few days ago and it will arrive maybe next week. I'm also interested in the delica4. I only had a spyderco folder with a liner lock and this will be the first lockback folder. I see circular scuffings on the blade around the pivot area on many spyderco lockbacks. Is this something that you can't do anything about it? Does all spyderco lockbacks have them? My linerlock folders did not have the scuffings. Does anybody know why? What's making this scuffings? Are the washers too thin? Does your dragonflys have the scuffings? :(

[QUOTE=JNewellNormal with any folder that does not have substantial pivot washers.

I agree.... I have a couple with the same "problem". :D

And it's even worse (normal) on clad blades because of the softness of the outer layer. ZDP Caly 3 is a good example.

Not to go against the grain, ryosuke, but the only Spydie that I've seen with those circular scratches is the Caly 3. Perhaps you're looking at used knives? Or perhaps my sample is too limited :)

Which does not have washers at all.

But this doesn't prevent it from being one of the smoothest action knives Spyderco has ever produced.

You think so? The Dragonfly is a little small to appreciate the "smooth" factor I think. Gayle Bradley on the other hand, that is a smooth action knife.

You have to own one to believe. The Caly 3 CF is one of my favorite, not sure about the G10 though.

The Native IV has them too. All 3 I've had did it, although I agree that the Caly 3's rubbing was a lot more noticeable, being a washerless design!

This was always one of my little pet peeves with those 2 knives. It's just more noticeable on some washerless Spydies. My Kiwi, for example, has the same pivot scratches, but they're not visible when the knife is open or closed, only if you open it half-way and look for them.
