Citadel on my mind

At the last Blade Show here in Atlanta, I stopped the Spyderco booth and browsed their wares. I was particularly impressed with the Manix 2, and was fortunate enough to purchase one. I love it. I has displaced my Sebenza, and Strider as my EDC for now. I am very impressed with this knife.

I recently saw a Citadel Spyderco automatic in the for sale area, and now am thinking of getting one these.
Are they the hard use knife like the Manix? What is your opinion of the Citadel? How well does the lockup feel and the unlocker hold?

any opinion would be appreciate,
T

Depends on what you mean by "hard use". Using a folder for what a fixed blade was intended is not a good idea if you want to keep the folder useable the next day. In ly opinion, they are not for hacking and chopping. They do pretty much everything else though. I own 2 and I carry one on occassion and have a lot of confidence in the lock up and reliabliity factor is high. The lock up is great, very strong from what mine has seen. I've not had one close on my yet.

I mean for general letter opening, UPS box opening, playing with while watching TV, and the little bit of satisfaction knowing that I have a pretty good knife by my side.
Kind of like a dog - but duller or sharper, ...whatever.

That knife is definitely able to do that. I've had mine for 2 years and not even so much as a chip in the blade.

does spyderco make any sub 2" autos?? Stupid California laws....

to my knowledge they do not. off the top of my head protech makes a handful of CA legal autos. even an OTF.

and to the OP i think any spyderco would suit your needs. be it the citadel or anything comparable.

Just got mine in the mail this AM.. I'll get some pics and comparisons up when I get a chance. Knife is awesome and more than I expected. I recommend picking one up if you are thinking about it. I got the 92mm version PE Satin blade.

Ok.. here are some quick shots of the Citadel with some other of my Spyderco's for comparison. Forgive my poor camaera skills. From top to bottom: Para, Endura 4, Citadel (92mm), Military, Sage II

I have had my 92mm Citadel for over a year now. It has been used what I consider to be ''hard use'' almost daily. The frame has some dings and scratches but the blade is perfect still. I swear it is faster and locks up better now than ever. Great knife.

I got one recently and I love it. The blade shape is even more practical than the Millie/Para due to the blunter tip. Its razor sharp, and I mean really freaking sharp, and the action is very positive.

The only thing is the ribbed scales, while offering good grip, are prone to dings. Mine picked up a couple (I have no idea how) shortly after I got it but I managed to recover from it somehow and with some counselling I have picked up the pieces and am trying to lead a full life although it was very traumatic I can tell you.

This is a real beauty of a knife and I really appreciate the way its been put together. It is an exceptional working tool.

I have one and really like it. The lock up and action are very nice. I wouldn't use an auto for hard use though.
