That was suppossed to be Citizen not Seiko....duh...
Anyone own one of the eco watches? I been looking at one that has a titanium band and case, looks sweet, but I am wondering if its durable enough to stand up to wearing to work? I like the never wind never need batteries idea, and the smart looks of the watch. This is it below and some stats:

Five Year Power Reserve!
Perpetual Calendar Autuomatically Adjusts for Odd and Even Months and Leap Years through 2100
Date - Set It Once and It's Set Forever
Solid Titanium Case and Bracelet in a Fluid Design
One-Way Rotating Bezel for Measuring Elapsed Time
Power Saver Function
Low Charge Indicator
Time Reset Advisory
Push-Button Deployment Buckle
200 Meter Water Resistant
Eco-Drive Technology Charges in Sunlight or Indoors - No batteries to change - ever!

I don't have the particular model you show above, but I do have a couple of eco-drives. Not bad watches at all, I prefer the Seiko kinetic to the eco-drive.

My EDC watch is a Citizen Eco-Drive Titanium Skyhawk.

I've only had it for a few months, but it seems to be tough, reliable, and very accurate. The Eco-Drive system strikes me as being inherently somewhat stronger than any kinetic system because moving parts are more fragile than electronics. On the other hand, a good kinetic is more than strong enough, so I doubt that makes any difference.

My wife recently started wearing a tiny ladies Citizen Eco-Drive Silhouette. She really likes the way it looks. :D

I don't think you can go wrong with either Citizen or Seiko, but I actually prefer Citizens myself.

Thank you mR.aLlEn :) I tried to catch it but was too late.

bquinlan:

Hows the titanium hold up as far as scratches and dings? The place I was looking at buying one has a two year idiot warranty that covers anything you can do to it, Was wondering if I needed it lol. They also have a free battery replacement policy there, ????? it dont use any so I should get like 50 bucks off I think!

I looked at that skyhawk while I was there but all those dials and numbers would confuse me I have it hard enough just telling time on one without numbers or digital readout dont want to make it any harder on myself.

I have the same watch as bquinlan. I got it for Xmas two years ago and have beat the crap outta it. Still going strong, but I cannot seem to get the UTC to work correctly:confused:

I've only had mine a few months, but it still looks brand new. My experience with titanium in general is that it doesn't show scratches nearly as much as steel, although that may be mostly because of the muted finishes it tends to get.

Can you tell me how much the UTC on yours is off by? I've run into a few peculiarities with it myself, so I may be able to help.

My only problem with the Eco Drive watches is the lack of a backlight. I opted for a Citizen Navitach which has a battery driven backlight.

As far as scratches on titanium is concerned, I have a Luminox Ti watch which for me shows scratches more than my SS watches. I think it's because the shiny (non polished) SS finish masks the scratches vs. the duller Ti finish.
