Here's what I've read about after doing a lot of searching:

Citizen:
Pros: Solar powered(sometimes), good reputation, good looks, haven't heard bad things about customer service

Cons: crystal type undefined, not sure about toughness, illumination system not so great

Swiss Army:
Pros: Sapphire and mineral crystal models are affordable, haven't heard bad things about quality or customer service, good looks

Cons: illumination system not so great, not much of a rep(not automatically a bad thing)

Luminox:
Pros: illumination system very good, good looks, supposedly keep good time

Cons: haven't heard a lot of good about customer service, weak pins, crystals scratch to easily(from what I've heard)and I haven't heard a lot of good about their overall toughness

Which brand would you go with? I'm not limited to these three brands, so feel free to recommend a different brand.

Thanks,

Jeff

Citizen Promaster series (the diver watches) are very well made, very tough and very dependable.

Citizen Promaster Dive Series...That's also MY favorite watch.:).

Sorry, I forget to say that I despise chronographs. Otherwise the Promaster would be a nice choice.

The Promaster series include models without a chronograph, just a depth gauge. There is a model with a digital readout of depth, and another with a large extra hand showing the depth on an analog gauge.

How's THIS Promaster?

(...My "daily-wear" watch, now that I got it back!.:).).

I have a Citizen World Timer -- solar powered, analog dial with a couple of small LCD windows, titanium one-piece case and bracelit, mineral glass crystal. Overall, I like the watch a lot. It looks cool, I don't have to change the battery, and it keeps very good time. Most accurate watch or clock that I own. It's at most slow 2 seconds per month.

The only caveat I have for the watch is that the glass scratches easily. Got a couple of scratches on mine. :( Also, in winters when I wear long sleeves, I leave my watch out in the sun on weekends to make sure the lithium-ion battery is fully charged. ;)

Jeff, the Seiko automatic diver is also a great watch, and worth a look. ~$190 online
