due to recent machete attacks local lawmakers are thinking about limiting blade length to 2 inches in MA. if they do attempt to go ahead with this nonsense pls join me in writing these lawmakers in an attempt to change their minds. i don't feel that we should pay the price for crimes committed by a few psychopaths(mostly local gangs).

Well, they do have a problem with machetes...(who would have thought)

And it's easily conceivable that overreactive, pandering politicians will bow to the current fear and pass a stupid law limiting carry knives to 2"

Some cities in MA already have laws limiting to very short indeed the length of knives that can be carried in public.
Boston, for example: 2 1/2 inches.

Would you mind citing some sources on this? Please and thanks.
i'll check to see if i can find some text sources. it's been in the local news a few times in the past month or so.(it seems to be a busy month for machete wielding gangbangers). there also seems to be quite a bit of talk of limiting blade lengths in alot of individual cities across the state aswell, so keep an eye on local ordinances. check deval patrick's website i'm sure he supports this nonsense.

I love the way the reporter said they were "unregulated weapons" and that anyone could buy them with no questions asked. No media bias there :jerkit:.

What stuns me more than these stupid laws are the fact that most "knife nuts" won't wake up to the fact that our ability to own basic tools is under an increasing attack.

the part abt. unregulated weapons got me too. sadly this seems inevitable in this bleeding heart state(i'm surprised it took this long).
i hope local knife nuts keep vigilant because this may end up a "midnight vote" situation. it seems to be only mentioned in the news in passing(changes at state level), and in a very positive way as if it were the will of the people. give the state police a call...they seem support the changes.

Imo, this is one great way to make it impossible to follow the law.
Still, I love living in mass....for now.

No factual truth, either.

Unfortunately, that seems to be the norm for modern "journalism".

Very true. You can count Lynn, Salem and Revere along with Boston as having very restrictive knife laws. That I why I removed the pocket clip from my 4" Cold Steel "Voyager" and now carry it completely concealed.

Yeah, I'm sure Deval would love to 86 all things sharp, pointy and otherwise dangerous. :barf:

Still, if the folks who perpetrated these attacks could not, by some incredible stretch, ever get their hands on another machete they'll just grab a cleaver or a 8" chef's knife out of their kitchen. Stuff like what's in the Herald, while some of it may be factually true, is just kneejerk hot air. We've been down this road before. Those who don't have regard for human life don't care what implement they use to take it. Lots of tools and other mundane objects can become a "savage weapon" but if this had been 2 foot long lead pipes instead of machetes you wouldn't see the paper calling the plumbing industry enablers of mayhem and murder.

I doubt that this time around any state-wide legislation would pass- they tried a machete permit law after the last rash of machete violence about 2 years ago, and that failed. This isn't to say that we shouldn't fight, BUT, I don't believe we need to be too worried either.
