took my ferhman to brothers ranch on fri. we cut live mesquite sat. morning & some sat. afternoon. trees up to6 & 7 in. in diameter. mesquite is a drought resistant tree that at 20 yrs. is probably only 8 in. in diameter. we just finished a 2 yr. drytime in austin, main lake was lowest level in 47 yrs. because of many dr y times mesquite grows slowly. a very hardy & hard wood that burns about 8 times hotter than charcoal.anyway after about 35 minutes of combined efforts the final judgment would not shave hair. no chips in edge & would still cut legal sheet paper easiley. back home 4 minutes of diamond stropping & it would shave leg hair.chopping is hard since we used different muscles & my arm is sore sun.survival shelters would require smaller wood & i figure the final judgment would make a decent shelter & still cut vegetables & fillet fish with ease.pics would not show polished edge well & i will try to get a better close up later, incidently the black crinkle finish was slightly discolored but had very minimal wear.
