Civil War Axe?

I just bought this from a guy claiming it's a Civil War era axe. I have my doubts. There are no visible blacksmith stamps(?). I didn't pay much for it, so it's not a huge loss if it turns out to be anything other than what he claimed. Any help would be appreciated. I can't seem to be able to post photos though. Thanks in advance.

Oh, well. It'll still look good in my collection.
Well I could easily be wrong.

It just doesn't look to have a lot of age to it though.

This piece made in / dated 1864 is much more common of " belt axes " in the civil war period, in fact of the very style supplied in mass quantities to the government. Hawks or " trade axes " I do not believe were as common any more by this time.
