Here is a Civil War inspired dagger / letter opener that was requested.

At first I had a very narrow rounded handle on it and absolutely hated it, so I broke the wood off and remade the hande out of a branch from a maple tree that I cut off a couple of years ago. The handle came fromt he crotch of the branch and I used the other piece of the branch as a display stand. It turned out much better than I hoped.

The steel is 1080 with deep FCL etch and bleach to stain it.
The blade is 6" with textured brass fittings that have been aged with amonia fumes. The wood is maple and the spacers are hickory.

The owner wanted scratches, battle scars, and "blood stains". He was tickled pink when he received it this morning.

I know that I need to work on my dagger plunge lines. Those buggers are hard to do.

Thanks for looking
