Geez, everyone, I'm sorry. This thread started during my finals (one more set of finals and I'm done!) and I just forgot about it. You college guys know how they melt your brain. Anyway, I've meet the guy that wrote the article with the picture so I can get all the info straight from him. I'll post the info tomorrow or the next day if I can get him online. Stand by and we can get this thing on the FAQ!

I remember seeing that photo on your thread at http://www.bladeforums.com/ubb/Forum26/HTML/000770.html

I was amazed. That was a very interesting thread. I'm curious to hear what this guy has to say.

BTW Ben--I went to MSU in '88-'89. Haven't been back since, and miss the campus very much. I was in the "Bulldog Battalion" too. I loved the UH-1 Huey rides to and from our weekend FTX's, and going on foot straight through campus from the ROTC building to the LZ in full gear, carrying our M-16's & M-60's. They paid my way through Airborne School. I miss the people too, but I'm sure no one from when I was around is still there now.

Hoowah, X-Head. Ain't much changed except it's a UH-60 Blackhawk now instead of UH-1 Huey. I had to leave because I'm graduating too early and they wouldn't let me finish my masters if I started it to remain in ROTC. I miss it more than anything. The cadre that was there in the end was really bad except the NCOs who were SF. We also had most of our cadets that were SF from the 20th at Camp Shelby. They were there trying to get their butter bars and our FTXs counted as there weekend they had to serve. They didn't have to drive that 4 hours trip to Shelby now. The only drawback (I didn't see it as one) was that our FTX turned into SF FTXs instead. I ate it up. I qualified to go airborne school also, but I was a CO-OP student and I had to work each summer. We could go to Ranger school and Mountain Warfare. They probably did that when you were there. I was trying to become a sniper and scored Expert with the 16. I was also one of Lee's Rangers. THAT kicked ass. Never had so much fun. Geez, X-Head, you really got reliving the good times.....:::tear:::

Sorry, Bill. I know this is off topic....no what a minute, X-Head, my CO thought my AK was one wicked looking piece of hardware! HOOWAH! GO ARMY!

I just got the email back from the author and here is the final verdict. The photo came out of Dixie Gun Works Blackpowder Annual 2000. It is a reenactment photo. I emailed the author for verification. His name is Joe Bilby. Great guy. He said that it was supplied to him by Dixie Gun Works and was taken at the Last Antietam reenactment. Oh, well. Still a sweet shot.
