Civilian - Ambidextrous ?

Hello all,
Please forgive me for what may seem as a "simplistic" question, as I have only recently purchased my first folder, and I am now interested in purchasing a second, and therefore I wish to be certain, so as to make a safe and secure purchase.

The knife that has caught my attention is;

The Spyderco Civilian - Plain Edge - Carbon Fibre - Left Handed Model - Mint

However, I am right handed, and whilst it would not be a user as such, but more of a collector piece, I would still like it to be operable in the right hand, and in that respect, I am inquiring as to whether or not the civillian is sufficiently ambidextrous, and if I would have any problems in manipulating it right-handed ?

I find this model extremely attractive, and aesthetically pleasing, and I especially prefer the plain edge, with the carbon fibre being a bonus. Yet whilst it is a left handed setup, I would still like to acquire it, only as long as right-handed manipulation is not affected.

So any help is most appreciated, and I thankyou in advance, and hope that sooner or later, I will have the pleasure of aquiring my first Spyderco.

"Left Handed" on the Civilian more refers to how the knife is carried, rather than operated. The thumb hole, of course, is abidexterious, and the lockback lock is as well. The Civilian wasn't made ambidextrious carry because (to keep it as thin as possible I assume) there is only one liner, which the clip screws tap into. On the left handed version, the liner and clip are of course on the other side.

Planterz;
Thanks for the clarification, :) I had assumed that the left-handed model would mainly differ in terms of being reversed to that of a right-handed model, (i.e. the scales, clip), however with the spiderhole being ambidextrous, I assumed it would be fine for right-handed use, yet I just needed to be sure.

I do like the style of blade, and especially in a plain edge, the carbon fibre scales... I'm not quite sure, and then theres the fact it's a left-handed model, however due to it's mint condition,.... for around $80 U.S., I think it's a reasonable purchase to make, and if it's simply a "safequeen", being left-handed would not really matter, apart from being a slight annoyance,.... but then again, it makes it more rare, being 1 of only 25 if I'm correct.

For $80 US, RUN, do not walk, to the dealer and grab it! :D I beleive the production figures for the Civilian were 1200 right hand, half of them PE, the other half SE, and 600 LH, again half PE half SE. The LH SE versions have the serrations on the opposite side as well as the clip. Funny part is that many feel RH serrations, while they're cut to LOOK better to right handed users, work better for us leftys, and visa-versa.

Would it have collector value at all, an investment maybe ?
Being LH, PE, and CF, it will be a great purchase anyway, and
for that price, I think it's too good of an opportunity to pass up, and I do plan on keeping it as a collection piece.

just to give you an idea, they usually sell for 200$US or more on a famous auction website ;)

yeah, I'm sure it's already gone. That's like asking if you should pick up the holy grail for under a hundred bucks. By the way, where'd you see this offered? :o
