I have the current model of the Spyderco Civilian and it only has 1 liner. I was wonderign if it was possible to custom-make another linr for it or if it was possible to make steel handles to replace the G-10. How mch would it cost for either of these mods?

I'm not sure its possible due to the length of the current pins in the folder the way it comes from the factory. They'll all fall short with another liner in there so its not just a matter of making another liner but a matter of having to redrill every hole in every part including the current liner and the blade and lockbar, rear spacer and anthing else for all new hardware. This of course will require a carbide and all new barrels and screws as well as a liner and all of it is still contingent on if I can even justify doing it once I evaluate the folder to be sure the other components can even handle the new size holes needed.

For example if the barrels in place on it now are bigger than 1/8" then that means that everything would need to be bumped up to 3/16" and I seriously doubt I could do that on the lock bar and probably not on the rear spacer. Blade sure but the point is it may not even be feesible. I'd have to have the knife here to look at personally to know the answers to all those things and may have missed a few things since all this is right off the top of my head.

what about just making steel handles that can be screwed in instead of the current G-10? The liner would not be importnat to me if it had metal handles. I saw you did custom aluminum handles for a Tasman Salt. I think it was for The Deacon. COuld you possibly do that for a Civilian also?

Probably so yes. On something like that its possible for me to engineer it to work with the existing hardware and many times to do the mod without actually modifying the original hardware in any way shape or form so that its possible if one were so inclined, to actually put it all back together the way it came from the factory. I like doing this when I can because its not truly a modified folder this way but simply one thats been customized professionally to suit the owner. This way I can wrap up the old hardware ie, the liners and scales so they are in the box where they can remain unused in pristine condition or at least the same condition they were in when I did the work with the potential to be reused one day.

Never having done the model you are inquiring about none of this is a given yet but once I see it to go over it all these things can be addressed and any questions answered more easily with the folder in hand.

No way to know $ figures until I get it in hand. We can go from there once I have it. Worse case scenario if you back out is that you'll be out shipping to me and back. Include enough $ for me to mail it back to you should you elect to pass. We can discuss the rest later on. In the mean time take a few to read post number one in my low rider pocket clip thread. Then you can mail at your convenience once you have the routine down from the info in that post.

Thanks
