Out of curiosity, any idea when the carbon handled PE's came out? I got one last week but damn if I remember any mention of them before getting one . . .

The CF Civilian started shipping in March 2001.
I did a search on the Spyderco Forum site and here on BF, then cross-referenced that with my archived emails. It looks like there was interest in getting a small run of the CF Civie back in July of 2000.
