A buddy of mine gave me an aluminum handled civilian a few years back and I carried it quite a bit but the needle sharp point broke off, Can this be sent back to the factory for reshaping?

Happy to report that the Mariner I bought new in about 1986-87, I was still in high school and $56 was my biggest knife purchase ever, is still in use today and I love it!

Yes you can send it back

bakerj,
Years ago when I bought my first Civilian, (a used one and by the way, misrepresented in the ad), it came with a very blunted tip. I'm not the greatest knife sharpener by any means but I tried my hand on a flat stone with it. It was a snap to bring the tip back to a razor sharp needle. It's not that hard at all but if you feel you can't attempt it, send it to Spyderco as rycen suggested. Be aware though that if the tip has been "snapped" off, Sal and the gang might charge you a small fee for restoring it to all it's new glory. ;)

Man, what a great knife to pick for your first "serious" knife purchase with the Mariner! I just sold one of the original "ventless" Mariners and I'm still kicking myself for doing it! Keep that sucker and pass it down to your children!
