Who prefers the g-10 civilian?
Who prefers the aluminum civilian?

Why???

I want to purchase a civilian and I don't know what to do!

For carry I prefer the G-10 model. It is slimmer in one's pocket/waistband than the original handle configuration. Also more uniform gripping surface. The kraton inserts on the alum scales are very sticky (in contrast to the slippery metal). I believe that the G-10 is the only model in general production currently (but the older style are still out there).

I like the G-10 Civilian. Too bad the one I saw in the store was $275 Canadian or I would own it right now. If it were plain edge I would have bought it anyway... That's what Visa's for.

I prefer aluminium as it is the only way to have plain edged civvie

And then there's the carbon fiber Civilians (both plain edge and serrated,....left and right handed) coming out in a few months

You have to go with G-10 if youre going to carry it.But I just got my hot little hands on a smooth aluminum model and it's my new favorite. It will never leave the house.Whatever you decide just be careful, that tip drew blood quick out of the pouch

The Matriarch has the same blade shape and size as the Civilian until you reach the very tip. The Matriarch is just a little shorter.

The handle is right off of an Endura. The whole package is really sweet. If your lucky enough to get your hands on a Gray one then you've really got a sweetheart.

I prefer the Matriach because I am Left Handed and the clip is reversible.

My wife carries the g-10 Civilian.

I can't wait for the Left Handed plain edge carbon fiber Civilian.

I carry a black Matriarch all day long, on or off duty, as a back up.
Matriarch is really good.
I think the tip is a little stronger than on the cicilian.

Just in case any of you are interested, here is a photo of the Carbon Fiber Civilian that is on the inside cover of the Spyderco Story! These will be out SOON!!!

I have the Aluminum version and relocated the clip to the but end for tip up carry.

I prefer this version because I like the craton inserts in the handle and clip, and with the clip relocated it makes for an excellent grip (especially in the palm of the hand).

Does the aluminum version come pre-drilled for clip reversal, or did you have it machined yourself?
