I have been at this digburn wall since about October. Foundation is about 18" deep. The wall is grouted with concrete and filled with rebar. Can you tell my dad was a structural engineer? I worked on it weekends primarily, in between church, errands, laundry, other general repairs and such. I am sure my neighbors are tired of my dirt front. I sprayed it all with Roundup and want to start from scratch. I should be planting this summer and fall. So, back to the wall, my neighbor wanted to know if I wanted to do something other than an old rotting out railroad tie for a property divider. I said sure, how about if I build us a wall out of slumpstone tan colored cinder block. We split the cost of the materials 50 50, and the only thing I ask is that you do not sweat me on a finishing date. I like to stay at home, but the wife likes to go out and do fun things. I am a boring ol coot, who would rather hang out in my man cave and fix stuff, or slap some scales on knife blanks. So, finally getting close to finishing this wall. I am kinda proud of it. Thanks for looking. I will be capping it off with a dark brown bullnose. I will post pics then too. The downlights are 12 watt fixtures 2 bulbs per fixture and made by Vista. They are located in my home town Simi Valley CA

Have a great weekend all.

That's a nice addition to your property. I like the lights also.

Nice. My first five years of working was with a mason building walls like that. I really miss that work.
Looks like a nicely built wall.

Thanks guys. Brick work is fun, if you do not do it for a living.

Gracious, Chris! Ya'll build brick outhouses, too?
(This from a fella who just built a green house out of PVC tubing and plastic sheeting, that is to say, the other end of the construction spectrum.;))

If it makes ya feel better, I tore out my front lawn and it took two years to replace it with other vegetation. So my neighbors got sick of my house, as well.

Sure is well built and it'll likely last even through the big one.
Congrats to you!

+1. When I redid the front lawn, I tilled, prepped, raked it smooth in spring, then spent the summer watering the dirt and killing the weed crop as it came up. Neighbors probably thought I was crazy. Seeded it in fall (best time around here) and the lawn came in great.

You are wise to do that, gotta sprout the seed, then kill it. You are crazy like a fox. I shot everything with Roundup in between our spring rains. The stuff I buy has a diquat for the quick top kill as well. It really made a good kill when the temperature rose a tad. It has been the mildest spring in So Cal since I can remember. We have not had any 90 degree days yet it seems. Usually had a heat wave by now. However, there is a lot of dust. Gracie accompanied me out front all day, and she spaz's over pine cones, stirring up a tempest.
I was able to cap about 8' with the bullnose, in between lunch, dinner, and chasing after the bastids....

They decided to jump on the school roof, and my kids friends mom was a little frantic. I used to do stuff like that too, I just cannot let them know that.

Nice looking job on the wall . I've always wanted to try doing brick work, but never have.
I sure wouldn't want to do it for a living though. My body is already in bad enough condition
