The CKG show is only a few days away! In anticipation, i have reached out to some of the knifemakers in the hopes of getting some sneak peeks of what they will be bringing...I will post pics here as they come in.

I just got off the phone with Neil at TNK...fear not Strider and Chris Reeve fans, there will again be 5 tables full of knives!

While Neil will be showing Strider and CR, he is willing to bring individual pieces upon request. For example, he will be bringing this Warren Osbourne show stopper...worth $6K.

Just heard from Greg Lighfoot and Kirby Lambert...both will be introducing new models at the CKG! I have to give both of them big kudos for their support of us Canadian collectors...with their international reputations, Greg and Kirby could easily debut new models at American shows like Blade (as some other makers have elected to do)...it is nice to see them sticking with their roots!

In addition to his regular lineup, Greg will be bringing:

* a new 6" fixed blade in 21st century san mai (carbon fiber over steel, like my one-off alien)
* a new neck knife with shark skin sheath
* a carbon fiber, cord-wrapped axe!!!!

This just in from Guillaume Cote...a nessmuk with ebony handle and turquoise spacers and examples of the hunters and fillet knives that he will be bringing.

A few of the pieces that will be on Paul Savage's table...a tomahawk and a couple of Japanese cord-wrapped knives (tanto and neck knife)

The W. Osborne and that first B. Weston look very impressive, thanks for posting the pics.

In addition to being able to gawk at and fondle the world-class cutlery that RL has posted, some lucky show attendee could actually go home with one of these:

(Thanks to the generosity and support of the Canadian Knifemakers Guild by Strider Knives and Chris Reeve Knives :thumbup::thumbup::thumbup: Second year they're doing this, folks! :cool: )

Indeed - very good of them to do so.

Usually, I don't care for turquoise inlay on knives, but I really like that nessmuk. Kind of reminds me of designs i've seen on cue sticks:D

Some nice knives Mr. Cote has made.

come on people...no excuses! quit your job, get a divorce, take a car/boat/plane/train/hovercraft or whatever but make it to the show!

here is some more motivation...

Saw the top two of the last set of knives. A lot of work in each. I like the bottom one except for the handle. There almost is no handle. I don't have a big hand and it is way too short and way to narrow for my liking. I did see a lot of knives with overly large handles though too. Tomorrow is the beginning of the show but there were knives to be seen this evening at the Friends of the Guild get together. Brian Tighe made a terrific knife for the draw for Friends of the Guild which will take place Sunday.

As long as I'm not late, should see RP tomorrow and he will then have Knives 2008. Had a nice chat with Holger and Neil and many others tonight. Should be fun.
