My own opinion is that it's too expensive. There are a number of fixed blade knives, tanto and spear, stainless and carbon, purty and ugly, good and bad. The CRKT M60 should come with a brown paper bag so you can put it over your head and not have to look at it.
Ka-Bar puts out a decent carbon steel tanto and there are still some carbon steel Cold Steel Recon Tantos out there. If you like stainless, the new Cold Steel Recon Tantos are AUS8, the same steel as the CRKT. I've also left a thread here regarding the Smith & Wesson Homeland Security Tanto, which is being sold for a bargain price of $29 from eknifeworks.com (Item #SWCKSURC). My brother just ordered a few and said the knife appeared to be heavy duty, and he loved the camo finish, which appears to be baked onto the blade. S&W doesn't have a remarkable reputation for making knives, but the ones I've bought are pretty much what you pay for. This one sells for between $45-$62, so it should be a pretty good knife. If you pay $8.60 for an Extreme Ops folder with a spear point, you're not going to be getting a premium knife. Still, I've found that for the eight to nine bucks I pay, I get more value than what I forked out. If the same is true for their fixed blades, I suspect they will be good values for the money. And paying thirty bucks for a heavy-duty work knife should be a good deal. Be aware, though, that there are a lot of people who don't have a good thing to say about Smith & Wesson.
CRKT makes a number of good knives and I have some Desert Cruiser knives that have sand-colored blades and handles. Just be sure about what kind of steel you're getting. Stay away from anything that says "surgical stainless" on it. That's the new term companies are using when they've downgraded their steel.
Finally, it helps knowing what a knife will be used for. Is this a gift, yard knife, defense or a package opener?
Good luck.
It's a good knife, I reckon, but it's UGLY!
