So how does the Neck Peck match up with the F4 Carson Neck knife? Sheath, steel, grip, etc. Any thoughts? Thanks!
Pat

Check the measurements - the Neck Peck is VERY small. As such, the grip is naturally compromised. I find the grip on the Stiff KISS on the small side, and the Neck Peck is significantly smaller.

I found a different problem with the neck peck that bothers me more than the handle (I've fairly small hands by comparison)
The neck peck sheath has way too much retention, and it takes lots and lots of work to actually make the knife removable in the first place. At least that was the one that I've experience with.

Hmm...the neck peck is too small? and the sheath is difficult to manipulate? The size issue doesn't bother me too much unless it actually feels unsafe. How about the steel? and the F4? Thank you!

The F4 is a great size and the handle grips make it fairly secure in the hand despite it being small. The sheath is not bad. It does not have the over retention problem that was mentioned above with the Neck Peck and comes with a clip that can be used with a belt if desired. If not leave the clip off. The other thing I like about the F4 is the size and weight are near perfect for a neck knife, it rides well and is accessible without bouncing around like an Olympic Medal ever time you lean over. My one complaint is I can't get a very good edge on mine. I don't know if they are all like that or a I just got a bad one but I own dozens of CRKT knives and this is the only one I heve a problem putting an edge on.

They both feature the same steel, AUS-6, which is known for mediocre edge-holding and good resharpenability.
I like my Neck PECK. Even though it´s pretty small, it still sits quite comfortable in my fairly large hands, especially when cord-wrapped.

I own each of these knives, and have carried them both quite a bit. To me the neck peck is the superior design for a neck knife. It not as bulky as the f4, I really don't like the sheath on the f4 at all. I have fairly small hands, but to me, the neck peck offers all the grip I need, it seems much more comfortable in my hands than the f4 does. The f4 does have a wider and thicker grip, but if feels more akward in my hand, I don't know why. I think that both knives are aus-6 steel, so they should be the same. The f4 has a very thin flat grind, which is great for slicing food and such, I like the chisel edge of my neck peck when it comes to rougher work though, I have been very very impressed with the edge holding on this knife. I have had it for almost 2 years, and have used it quite regularly, and have only touched the edge up once in that time. I think they are both great knives, and for around 20 bucks each, they are two of the best values in knives today. You cant go wrong with either, but my vote goes to the neck peck.

DEA: you haven't been doing dope lately, have you? Get your mind out of the gutter, LOL ;)
I exchanged for the F4, and it's great. One day I was bored and replaced the zytel scales with leather ones (yes leather)
I also turn the bead blasting into somewhat a satin finish by hand.
I love this little thing, and my friend borrowed it on a trip and he loves this little knife too.

calyth, Can we see a pic or scan of modified knife?? I also have a Carson Neck Knife, I don't use it to much, but I like it. The size is just right so your not burdoned by it. And the sheath is great for the price, I don't think anything else compares
