Hello,

I have just about given up on firearms. I've had them all and I just want to return to my first passion. I'm down to one, a very valuable one.

I'm considering trading it to a friend for a fairly large quantity (100+) of knives. Some custom, mostly production, some used, most would be NIB.

My intention is to keep a few, use others for barter on the Trade forum, or outright sell them here on the Individual forum at fair value pricing.

I'm not looking to make money, unless it were to purchase items on the Makers forum.

Would I be considered a "dealer" by doing this?

I know it wouldn't be long before someone thought "Jeez this guy has a lot of knives, is he dealing?"

People here are too sharp.

I would like your opinion before I proceed with this trade. I don't want to end up with a pile of blades (don't get me wrong, I like knives) that I can't use or move.

Let me know what you think.

Thank you,

AKC

I read that (some time ago) and didn't feel that my particular situation was addressed. Couldn't really find any FAQs that addressed it either.

Sounds like you would fit into the category as a hobbyist who is merely unloading a collection you came into, albeit a very large one, not a dealer.

Posting here ahead of time for clarification would seem to be the right thing to do...

But what do I know, it's Christmas Eve and I have not started shopping yet. :D

That's what I thought, I just wanted to check.

Don't take anything anyone says to heart unless it's said by a Super or Administrator. By coming here and explaining first your chances are far better that you won't be labeled a dealer. But keep in mind that we will be watching.

Let the Supers get together and discuss it first before you post anything.

That's what I wanted to hear, I can wait.
