Please let me start by saying that I think I probably fall under the new guidelines here and I'm not trying to weasel out of anything.
I have a knifemakers membership, not a dealer membership. I'm wanting to do a one time bulk sale of micarta to knifemakers. I am not generally in the business of selling handle material or other items on this site (except the occasional knife) and it will generate no meaningful income for me. But it isn't just a few pieces of scrap laying about my shop either, it is over $1,000 worth of material (that I have already purchased, sitting in the shop). So I wanted clarification before stepping out of bounds.
About a month ago I had the opportunity to piggy back on an order with a vendor that I buy non-knife related materials from. I saw the opportunity to get a deal and pass it on to my friends here at about half the normal rate for this material. I started a thread to see if there was interest and there was. So I got the material in and cut it up to fit in flat rate boxes. And now I've seen the new policy.
So, my question is, do I have Spark's permission to sell the material that I currently have without getting a dealer membership? It is my feeling this is a gray area because I'm generating no real income and I'm not in the business of selling this stuff (nor do I want to be), but that it probably does fall under the new policy due to the size. If it does, fine. I'll spend the $200 and add it to the sale price.
I hope this doesn't wrankel any feathers and will serve a precedent to define where that line is.
Thanks a bunch,
Edit. I will lock this thread so it doesn't join the debate. If you could simply unlock it, give a yay or nay and relock it, I'd appreciate it. Nate
