Here is a shot of a hunter I just finished. 4.5" blade, 9"oal, claro walnut handle. I'll get some better shots of the handle up in a minute.

I really like the knife,
but for me the blade looks about 1" shorter than the handle???
Maybe the pic?

Keith- the trick is 15 coats of tung oil and high grit sandpaper. I have been taking the finish to 3,600, in the future I am going to try finishing to 12,000- it might be excessive.

Bigbore- the handle is actually a quarter of an inch longer than the blade. I have been debating cutting that last little bit off, but the wood is too pretty :).

Thanks for the compliments guys.

Here is a close up of the handle, the photo really doesn't show the figure and detail of the wood.

Nice work, Matt. How many knives have you made now? Building up your shop at all? This hunter hardly looks like something made by a newbie... far from it, it looks remarkably well done.

Wulf, this is my second knife. I still don't have any power tools (except a drill :)). I am pretty happy with this knife but the knife I am working on now is MUCH better...I'll get some pics up by the end of the week.

Thanks for the compliments.

I had this knife in my hot little hand a couple weeks ago. It is very nice. Handle feels great and looks better. Well balanced real handy size for general use. Matt attended the ABS intro class and is making these great knives with only hand tools. Nice job!
