Classes?? Help in your shop

I am looking for a blade/knife making class in the deep south. The 2 weeks one at ABS is too far away and too long (two weeks).One week is all I can
get away. That leaves weekends for travel time. If there just is not any near by, are there any Smiths who let me work in their shop for some hands on teaching?Since I have no experience it would limit me to "scut work", but am willing. I could reimburse you for material I would need or I screw up.

Welcome to Bladeforums! I'll move this thread to Shop Talk for you -- that's where the knifemakers hang out. You can learn a lot just from reading that forum.... :cool:
 
Do a search on the Georgia Knifemakers guild. They do have a website. Bunch of great folks to know.
 
I understand that there is a weekend class going on either this, or next weekend (I think) over in blounstown florida. I think blounstown is about 3-4 hours from you. The teacher is John butler, I'll see if I can find out more tommorrow.

Blountstown is familiar to me, used to pass thru it years ago going to Mexico Beach
