Ive started to really notice classic bowie style knives and i really think one will be next on my list. There are probably tons out there from all different makers, and well thats why i turned to you fine gentlemen. So far i found two styles i REALLY like, from opposite ends of the spectrum. One was the bark river teddy and custom canoe, the other the kabar classic bowie. price difference of about $$120 depending on model. Id like to stay under $150, less preferably of course. but what else do you guys recommend. Really like the stacked leather handles but micarta aint bad either. prefer to stay away from stag for no other reason then its more expensive.

I wanna talk to Jerry Fisk and see about a 9' Southwest Bowie.

I've been in love with old style bowies ever since I was a kid, and we went to the Alamo. I saw something there, that changed my life, for all eternity.

I've also been eyeballin' this guy, in the hopes it would cool my desires, but alas, it will soon be mine, and my desires are running rampant, still.

Thats sweet. although outta my price range, plus i like the top gaurd on a bowie

yeh but i think 10 1/2 blade is pushing it for a belt bowie

I got a Trailmaster in CarbonV that I'm in love with. Fisk put the edge on that one for me at Ethan's place. Its a beast of a bowie. Not sure how the current runs stack up, but I like the one I got.

Have you looked at all at blackjack knives?

They have tons of the more "classic" looking knives, almost all of them bowie-ish at least.

I would be looking at the model 7, and the model 14 if I were you. They're both offered in many different handle materials. They're also thick (which I know you like), and convexed.

The only downside is that they are RIGHT at the end of your price range ($150-$175). Not sure, but you might be able to find some second hand?

Good luck man.

Also moose, when you get that crocodile dundee knife, let me know how you like it. Its been taunting me since I first learned that you could actually buy a knife similar to what he used in the movie.

You could maybe find a nice Marble's Ideal in new shape for around that much.

I would love to have one of the older Ideal 8's. Man I did love those. Solid knives. The ones now are not so good.

A big second for the Blackjack Model 1-7 that ocnLogan posted a picture of. It's very similar in look to a Randall, and the A2 tool steel is fantastic. These are actually made for Blackjack by Bark River and are of similar quality. The stacked leather handle version (which I have) runs right around $150. Seven-inch blade. The sheath is really of nice quality as well. Here's mine:
