classic bowies

It depends on what you want to use it for.

Mostly you get what you pay for.

"Blade Steel: Stainless Razor Edge." This sounds a bit dodgy, my guess is that the steel quality sucks. If it were made from a good steel, they would have named it.
I wouldn't use a knife like that.

If you want to spend that kind of money and you want a decent bowie, you'll be making it yourself. (a very enjoyable hobby)
Go from scratch, or buy a knife blank and finish it to your taste.

I had a look on ebay, this one you might like:

440c Steel is a very decent knife steel. It was used A LOT before ats34 and cpm154 came along. But still something you could use and use well.

And if you are from Australia, finding a nice piece of eucaliptus wood for handle scales won't be a problem.

i thought it was dodgy too but i didnt want to completely throw it out the window.i have heard good things about the paul chen historical bowies thought, also are rough riders any good?

To me, the only good knife is a hand made knife.
To each its own ;)
(make one yourself)

For a classic styled bowie in your price range try looking at Atlanta Cutlery Co. They sell knives made by Windlass Steel, and have a ton of good looking and usable bowies in the classic western style.

Their fit, finish, and heat treat can be a little hit and miss, but overall they have some pretty good deals on some decent blades, and most of those knives will hold an edge and take a real beating.
