After the thread "most sold Vic" I think I will start EDC a Classic instead of my Soldier, it will fit my pocket much better  What do you think, will a classic be able to replace a soldier?

I don't think it will replace the soldier, but you'll be suprised at what that little gem of a knife will accomplish. Are you going to purchase a NIB one or get a used one? Myself ,I purchased a NIB one for about 8 bucks with the intention of using it to it's fullest. If I happened to break it or whatnot during the EDC field test well, then I knew it's limits. I still use the classic I bought and except for a bit of sharpening and some scratch marks on the blade from heavy use, it's still working great. Here's a tip to make your classic more useful, on mine I took a flat diamond hone and flattened/squared the edges of the small screwdriver tip. I think it makes it grip small screwheads better with less slipping. Also, on the front edge of the nailfile I sharpened the side and front edge to a 90 degree angle so I can use it as a scraper or fire rod striker. If you don't mid scratching the side of the nailfile a bit, this feature works great. Let us know how your classic preforms after carrying it a while. I'm sure you won't be dissapointed in it's performance. BTW, it's not really important, but which color classic are you planning on getting?

Thanks for the info, I will come back with a test report. I think I will get a red one because I like the original SAK look. :D

Sharpening the edge of the nail file is a good idea. Similar to making chisels our of the big screwdrivers on full-size models. I have mine obtuse too, and I'll use it for fairly damaging tasks.

Around the Office or Home the Classic is just fine. Outdoors in the Boonies the Soldier is always with me along with my 4 inch blade Scandi!

I think the Classic SD in combination a Soldier makes an excellent EDC combination...definitely not a replacement though. I either carry that combination or an Explorer by itself as far as SAK EDC goes. Usually have an Emerson Mini Commander or Benchmade 722SBT along for the ride also.

Even in the outdoors it's a pretty capable knife. Remove splinters, clean fish, make wood shavings and fuzz sticks, strike a ferro rod, cut roots and vegetation etc. In fact, most of the things I use a knife for in the outdoors a Classic can handle pretty well. I keep an LED attatched to my Classic with a hair tie and I'll often pair that with a larger folder like an Opinel or Spyderco, or just carry it as is. I don't feel under knifed with just a classic.

Even though I carry a soldier in a belt pouch with a small AAA Dorcy light, I rarely use it these days. I find myself reaching for my key ring with my classic on it.

I just got back from playing with a new toy on the pistol range, and the small screwdriver on the end of the nailfile adjusted the windage screw on a Smith and Wesson revolver just fine.

A classic is not a replacement for a larger knife, but its a damm handy little tool for everyday life!

I have owned 2 classics for about as many months. A week ago I decided to install one on my keychain. Needless to say, I would NOT give up any of the full size knives I also carry. I really don't like the mini blade all that much, though the classic is very sheeple friendly, and the scissors are nice.

The Wenger version is better, IMO. I think it's called the Esquire. It is slightly larger, however. I find the nail file works better, and the scissor design much better.
