I'm looking for a medium size folder with a good sized THUMBSTUD and NO assisted opening, What would you recommend?

Junglee Marshall has a good sized thumb stud. Very comfortable. It is a liner lock. ~3.5" blade. AUS10 steel. Has either aluminum handle or a FRN handle. I have the FRN version and IMO the handle is not strong enough. Everything else is good though so you might be happy with the Aluminum handle version. Gotta be right handed though. The thumb stud is on one side only and is not reversable.

emerson cqc7 or any emerson for that matter wait how much lookin to spend and for what do you need it for any way emerson you cant go wrong

Boker's Magnum brand (same relationship between Boker and Magnum as between Spyderco and Byrd) has some very nice looking folders with thumbstuds but without the 'tactical' look. They're made in Taiwan but, for the price (most are between $20-$50) they seem to have a good reputation...

Here's an old thread about Magnum

I second the Benchmade Mini-Griptilian recommendation.

And another one to consider is the Gerber Harsey Ranger.
I know alot of folks here aren't too fond of Gerber, but the Gerber Harsey Ranger is a nice little knife.

CRKT also has some possibles...
The Anubis and the Pharaoh, designed by Mr. Elishewitz, look interesting.
As does the Hammond Desert Cruiser.

The old Camillus Cuda EDC was a great little folder too.

Have you considered a Cold Steel Voyager? They come in tanto and clip point versions with 3, 4, and 5 inch blades, plain edge, partial, and serrated. I like my clip point plain edge 4 inch Voyager that I've had for several years. In Cold Steel's July 4th sale flyer they have their 3 inch plain edge tanto point Voyager on sale for $50, which it says is a 23% discount. These prices are good through the month of July. 1-800-255-4716, M-F 6 to 6 PST, S 8 to 5
