Classic knife around 3 inches?

I've been EDCing CRK Aviator for a while now and as much as I love it it is a bit to big to have it in my pocket. So I'm in the market for a fixed knife with blade around 3 inches. I love classic shape knives where simplicity is the beauty. There are few of them out there that I looked at from BRK and Esee but was wondering if there is anything out there that would be better. My needs would be a plain blade 3 inches, classic shape like drop point, satin or polished, handles could be wood, micarta or g10, lanyard hole and leather sheath (no kydex). I would like to stay under $200 if possible.

Purpose of this blade is EDC for regular everyday normal guy.

Thanks in advance for your thoughts and time on this.

Moving this to General Knife Discussion.

You'll be hard-pressed to find a sub 3 inch knife that has micarta/g10 with a leather sheath, but the ESEE 3 is a great knife with Micarta, lanyard hole, I guess "classic" blade shape, though it does have a kydex sheath (it's great though). It is a fantastic knife, and you could get a custom leather sheath for it.

As far as fitting all your requirements, not a whole lot of manufacturers will and still produce a great knife. You might want to look in to some customs; you can get something that fits you best, though it may run you more than $200. There's nothing like a custom, and you can get some great suggestions from other BF members in the subforum. Look into George Herron knives (beautiful, high-quality knives).

There are some "customs" available for the Fallkniven WM1. The VG10 blade is 2 3/4" and they come in G10 or Ironwood. The prices are about $200. Check out KSF, but they may be available elsewhere.
The Thermorun handle versions cost much less, but of course, don't look as nice.
These knives don't look like a Loveless blade, but they are good stuff.
Moki makes a knife in VG10 with Micarta handles. It looks like a nice knife.
If you want something more robust, I'd look to some of the Bark Rivers in 3V or A2. If you want a slicer or a general use knife, the Fallkniven should be considered. If you want a bird and tout type of knife, take a look at the Moki models. They come in different blade lengths and are certainly worth a look.

A small custom knife can be had that fits your requirements and budget - you might need to send it somewhere for leather, but could prolly still fit under $200. Usually it's less expensive if it's a maker's standard model with options you choose, rather than a full custom.
I make such things, and so do others. Small knives are awesome.
Keep an eye on the maker's fixed-blade for sale area, I think you'll be pleasantly surprised.

However carrying a fixie in B'klyn is verboten, as per my reading of the regs. (anywhere in the five boroughs) :(

Hey everyone thanks for the pointers. I carried a fixed blade on me in Brooklyn for long time and never had a problem but it's all about perception I guess (I know about legal issues). Beautiful hand made knife or in bright colors gets a different response than a shiv combat ready dragon etched like blade (not that there is anything wrong with that kind of blade if that's your cup of tea). But I'm in NJ now and still work in Brooklyn. I keep looking in customs area but I'm always a date late since I work 16 hrs shifts and stay at the station house with bladeforums being on the forbidden/block list. I'm still looking I thought that I can make it with production fixed knife but all the blades are 3.5 inches and that automatically makes a handle longer which makes it to big for the pocket carry.

I carried an Esee 3 for 2 years prior to giving it to a co worker but I will be ordering another soon. I think its the perfect knife in that size range. However you might look at the Swamp Rat rodent solution. Its a very nice knife as well comes in at slightly over 100 bucks then you can spend the rest on a leather sheath that suits your style.

spyderco mule, you can get them in pretty good steels like ELMax or M390 and customize with what ever handle you want.

I have to second the Fallkniven WM1. It's really a great knife in a small package. I have one in VG 10, and have no complaints. Very light, easy to carry, and has great ergonomics.

There are a number of Bark River knives that fit your parameters. I carry an OMF knife, which is a bit smaller, but has a great modified wharncliffe blade shape.
