The micarta Sebenza has to be the definitive EDC. Perfect in every way IMHO. I am glad I got one. OK, so who else in CRK world has one? Let's hear about it. :D

I have a large one, but only for a while before it goes out on passaround. (Unless I win it of course)

A have a Large LH serrated Micarta Classic. :D :D :D

I got my large right handed (plain edge) micarta classic Sebenza yesterday.

It is the finest folder I have ever owned, and it will be my EDC for a long time.

So ummm...what are your guys addresses then?

Just need to know for a school project I'm working on... :p

Nice try BOK. :p I also forgot to say that I have lots of loaded guns and an itchy trigger finger. LOL Pretty soon my address is going to be Camp Bucca Iraq. I don't think you wanna come there to get the Sebbie from me. ;)

Got my large inlay last night when I got home from work. It came very smooth and incredibly sharp. I think that the texture of the Micarta is nice without overdoing it. I ended up getting the plain edge but with double thumblugs. I think that the fit and finish are typically flawless and I expect this one to get a lot of pocket time.  ;)

I've got one and I love it. The only mild complaints are that the micarta is not really rough at all (kind of slick actually) and the lock closes down nearly all the way when the knife is open which worries me because I'm paranoid that it will wear down soon.

Other than than I love the sucker and I'm thinking about getting another sebbie to play with.

Also, I will eventually get damascus, it's just a matter of time.

Smeg if you send it back to CRK they will adjust it for you. It's worth a try if it really bothers you.

The lock isn't a problem at all now, but I've read a couple of online reviews that say the lock bar tends to move further and further towards the 100% mark as time goes by. I haven't seen that yet so I'm just being paranoid.

The question about the micarta is just a question at this point, and again it's probably just paranoia.

Smeg,
What the percentage lock bar to blade tang coverage on your knife? If it is less than 75% then it is within specs I believe. Hard to imagine a sebenza with more than that leaving the factory unnoticed.

I'd say it's really close to 75% out of the box, not more unless someone flips it open or its been squeezed. The thing I worry about is it working to more than 75%. This review in particular contained the line:

"The twisting also only tends to unlock the blade when it is rotated in a counterclockwise direction, clockwise torques just close the lock tighter. This brings up a point of concern as it grates the lock bar across the end of the blade thus causing a lot of wear. After just a couple of months of carry and use, not even as primary EDC, the lock bar is more than 4/5 of the way across the face. This holds even when the Sebenza is taken apart and reassembled."

I've heard this in a couple of places as well, so that's what I'm worried about. It's not a problem now, and I'm sure if it becomes one I can send the knife in to be repaired, but since it's very near to 75% at the moment it makes me worry about the life of the lock.

What kind of wear have you guys seen in this area?

This statement surprised me as well. I've never heard of any problems with wear regarding sebenzas on any of the forums and I pretty much read every sebenza post. When you say you've heard of this in a couple of places are these in regards to sebenzas? The lock face on sebenzas are heat treated while some liner/integrals are not so that may make a difference.

As for my sebenza I've opened and closed it many times to see how long it would take to wear because this topic worries me also. Its been my EDC for 6 years now and goes 90-95% across. I can push it over further so its not at 100%. If I flick it open there will be noticable up and down play and even though I can still move the lock over to 100 the play remains. If I open it normal speed there is very little to no play. If I flick it open and then unlock and lock again, the play will remain and will always remain until I close the knife with any force. Confusing!

I think this is all due to the stop pin sleeve being shifted. When I close it with force, it shifts and puts the blade in a different position when locked and so, eliminates the play.

I will say that the lock did last a lot longer than I expected, and is still of course perfectly functional. I was extremely obsessive with the opening and closing day in and day out but I stopped doing that maybe a year or 2 ago. I don't think you have much to worry about when it comes to a CRK product.

I will bet that you did not assemble your kinfe properly. Follow the instructions that are on this site to see if there is an improvement. I have a dozen different sebs, the oldest being from 1997. I have cycled that knife 1000's of times without any problems.
