Came across this article today about classic pocket knives and was wondering how many of these knives are still commonly found/used today by our forum members. I, for one, have and use a Vic OHT (yea, I know it's not featured in the article, but it's close enough to the Soldier). Opinels are still around too. What about the other ones?

I mainly use and carry classic/traditional pocket knives. I've played with modern knives for a while, Spyderco's and such, but they're not my style. I found myself using and liking traditional knives most of the time. So I sold most of my modern knives.

I only carry and use the older traditional knives and saks.

Last year I had to have an operation on my hand, for some tendon problem. I had one hand out of action, so I was loaned some modern folders by generous friends. I hated them. Only one single large blade, not well designed at that, and zero appeal in the looks department. I was glad when I could open my sak or other pocket knife again.

On the occasion I stray from sakdom, I will usually have a Case peanut or Buck stockman in my pocket. I bought the stockman in 1967, and the sak not long after. I always return to those two knives sooner or later. Everything I've had since has come and gone, but the sak and Buck stockman have stayed.

I've always wanted one of those knife pistols pictured:)

Seriously, traditional patterns appeal to me as well. While today I normally carry a SAK, a scout/utility/camp pattern with nice scales would fill most of my needs easily. Do I own tacticool knives? Yep, and I one comes on duty with me daily. Do I own multis? Yep. But I am a knife guy, not a pliers guy so they don't get a lot of use.
