Classic Sebemze vs. Plain Sebenza

I have been hearing so many good things about the Chris Reeve Sebebenza, that I decided I must have one. I see there is a classic, and plain model, and would like to know the difference. Does one have any advantage over the other, or are the differences purley cosmetic? Also which one do you own, or preffer? Thanks for your feedback.

The main difference is a slightly different blade shape and a lack of scallops on the handle. I wouldn't think that the difference in blade shape would make much difference in functionality so if you are making a choice between them I'd simply choose the one that pleases your eye.

Roj is right on the money, pick the one that looks right to you.
I have both and am partial to the classic model my self, that one has a more pronounced guard built in the handle.

Welcome to the forums! You picked a great knife to like. You're off to an expensive start here! As one of the guys writes: Buy quality and only cry once.

We have a Chris Reeve Knives Forum where you should get an enthusiastic discussion of this question. It’s a good place to go if you are serious about spending that kind of money for a knife. Be warned: the Sebenza is seductive. It spoils you for the ordinary run of knives.

I usually carry two or three knives, each one distinct in size and function, and one of them is my Sebenza. It's hard to leave home.

If ever given a choice, I always go for the better ergonomics. For me, there is no choice, the regular sebenza or NO sebenza. My hand just feels much more secure.

I just got my first Sebenza about two weeks ago and I got the regular. I am very pleased with it. As everyone one else as warned you, I am already thinking about getting the Classic one. I would suggest you go with the regular one first.

Check out the Chris Reeve forum and welcome to the family. You will wind up with more than one.

Get the one that is most pleasing to your eye. I have the regular because I like the blade shape better but I doubt any of my functions with the knife would suffer if I chose the classic.

I predict that you'll get a large and then a small, carry the small more often, then start with CGGs and woodies. It's a slippery slope those Sebenzas.

I have the "plain". I thought that it was replaced by the classic, but I could be wrong.

Next one will probably be the classic.

Can't go wrong either way.
