I was moving some stuff about, and I ran into this on the back of an 08/96 Knives Illustrated:

<A HREF="http://www.chaicutlery.com/spyderco/Ad-SteelCable.jpg" TARGET=_blank>
Ad-SteelCable-small.jpg
</A>

The knife in the ad is a Terzuola design they don't make any more.

If, after you click on the little image for the big one, the text is still "legiblity-challenged" on your screen, it says:

Of course it's impossible!
But, a few of our customers have
managed to saw through steel
cable in order to save a life.
And the knife still shaved...
Enough nonsense - It ruined
the knife. But when a little
determination and a CLIPIT(tm) get
together amazing things happen.

I remember that one! One of the few funny ads (not just tasteless) I've ever seen.

a few of our customers have
>managed to saw through steel
>cable in order to save a life.

Is there any real story base on this?
I really would like to hear it!

Thanx James.

Hi Alan. It was a diver sawing through a cable to save another diver tangled in the cable. He used a mariner model. They were 150 feet down. Ruined the teeth. We gave him a new one, I think we've got the old one about somewhere.

My poor old Police went thru 2 braided high-tensile steel cables once...it took some sawing but it did happen.

Nice ad James! Any idea how much that knife in the picture would cost now?

I've had more paper cuts than cuts from knives, but the knives are QUICKLY gaining!

Hi Sal
I like to use this great story in magazine,
could you tell me the names of the heros in this story, and where did this happen?

Thank you very much!

Hi Alan. Sorry. It's been more than 10 years. Wouldn't know where to begin to search.

There was a local LEO that was wearing a Police model that stopped a 9mm slug, saved his leg. Also ruined the kife. We couldn't get that one either.
