Hi,
As I don't know a ton about CR knives this could be kind of a stupid question, but I can't for the life of me tell these two apart. Other than the word classic around the pivot. So, can you guys educate me as to the difference between these two?

Thanks for your time. :)

They are the same model. The Classic is discontinued with the writing. The 21 has a larger camphor around the pivot area. That is about it as far as I know.

I would also call them the same knife. Though if I had to pick I would get the 21 because it doesn't have the tacky "Classic 2000" on the handle.

I hear you on that. I wish the Classic didn't have the engraving on the handle either.

This is a great thread with great pics. I'm nominating it for sticky status?

Maybe I'm just slow but I really can't see any difference. :) Anyone have a side by side pic to compare?

What about the blades themselves?

I had a plain small that I bought around '02 and later sold. I recently got back into knives and bought a large 21 UG. The blade on the large seems to be shaped slightly differently and it seem more polished. I remember the small's blade being stone washed but the large is SW but highly polished the length of the bevel.

Thanks!
;)

All Sebenzas, in all versions and all sizes, come standard with a fully stonewashed blade. Inlayed, UG, and other decorated knives come with polished bevels and stonewashed flats.

The Classic and 21 have identical blades, but the Regular is slightly different.

The Regular has a gentle, convex drop from spine to point:

The Classic/21 have a steeper, almost concave drop and a pointer, slightly upswept tip:

Personally, I prefer the 21 for both its handle and blade.

Not all Sebenzas in all versions or sizes have a fully stonewashed blade. The inlays and annuals have a partly stonewashed blade with a belt grind finish where the blade has been hollow ground.

I actually go the other way, I have a few of the inlayed classics with the MM on the back because I like them better and in my view they are more interesting than no engraving at all.

Different strokes................:)
