classic vs. plain seb

I haven't handled a regular but I can't say enough about how nice my classic is. If you're thinking of getting a seb just do it. You will not be disappointed.

The handle on the regular is a lot more comfortable and functional than the classic, but the classic seems a bit slimmer. As far as the blades, it's up in the air. I like both shapes...but I guess I preferr the regular shape just a little more. So, I like the regular, yeah...

I like the regular too. I don't own any of the classic ones but for some reason they just don't do much for me. I'm sure that either one will be very good. CRK makes a first rate product that will not disappoint you. Good luck on your choice!

I prefer the regular design because of it's excellent handle ergonomics and blade dimensions (IMHO).

I bought a small regular sebenza because it felt better in my hand. I can also one hand open/close this knife much easier than the classic style.

I like the regular style better. I have never owned a classic although I have held one before.
I'm sure you will like either one.

I had a regular styled Sebenza a while ago and just recently picked up a classic. Both handles feel good, but the classic feels a little better in my hand. If you can, try to hold both and then decide. either way, you'll be getting a great knife.

I've never handled a classic. I have two regulars and I like 'em both. Personally I don't like the looks of the classic. Don't really know why but...

Ill throw my 2cents in.....

I prefer the classic, becuase of blade shape. The regular has more of a belly, and in my book... the less belly the better:p

I like the regular, but I have to admit that classic sits a bit better in my hand. Will have both for sure. Of course in both sizes. Some day... :)

I really like the classic Sebenza because of its design. The blade is fine and pointier than the regular one. In addition to that, the handle curves are softer, it looks simple and elegant. The classic Sebenza always reminds me of the French Laguiole. For me it is a nice compromise between tactical features and style : my next knife purchase will be a small classic Sebenza.

On the other, the regular one fit my hand better and I prefer to work with it. The handle grip is very secure thank to the liner grooves…

Anyway, you cannot go wrong with a Sebenza. The differences I mentioned are very very minor. I think it is a feeling matter. Try to put the two models in your hand and I’m sure it will be more simple to choose… ;)

Good luck !

I like the handle of the regular and the blade of the classic. That's why I have both.

I like the appearance of the Classic better. Seems to be a much more sculptured look. I don't believe that the Classic is functionally any better than the plain.

Classic blade shape, with the plain's handle.
Shame you can't get one.
You can get a swedge put on the regular Sebenza's blade in order to make it pointier and make it look more like the classic's profile.

For the Large Sebenza I prefer the Classic handle to the newer "regular" style. This may be because my first Sebenza was a large P marked blade with the satin finish. I find that with the classic shape there is no way in hell my hand is going to slip down on that blade, and the large handle is comfortable in several different grip positions.

For the Small Sebenzas I like the newer handle style better. The Classic style on the small doesn't leave much room for my hand and therefore isn't as comfortable in different positions. The blades on the two different small styles don't vary as much either. I also prefer the blade style with less belly.

I would like to see a limited run of Umfaan style knives with the classic handle shape. I think that would make a great collectors piece. Maybe do 500 pieces total with some decorated and some plain, and damascus for a few. I'm not sure it would be an improvement of the Umfaan, but a nice small run. The costs of setting up the machines may not warrant something like this, I don't know.

I still like both handle shapes more than most "tacticals" that I've owned and/or fondled.
