I was searching for Wegner information and found this excellent thread, I wish they are not discontinued! I prefer G10 and original larger size blade but maybe Trakker will be very good with FRN. Still , I am feeling nostalgic for the Large Wegner , it was the best design prodction liner lock ever IMHO!

The original full sized Wegner is my favorite production knife bar none. I haven't found another production folder that fits my hand so well. It is a real shame they are discontinued. I will buy a trakker, I have a prototype in G-10, but it still doesn't carry like the original.

Thank you very much for this reference to Tim Wegners description.

I adore the large Wegner design, and have wondered for some time about it's possible effectiveness as a defensive tool. It is the single fastest opening knife I own, bar none so I thought that was a good start.

since it was designed to cut "critters" it should do very well on predatory "critters". The sweep of the belly should make it an effective "slasher" if that is one of your criteria for a defensive folder.
And I agree- the Wegner is an absolute classic. When the smoke clears for me, I'm going to look for an additional one- I've retired the Wegner that was my EDC for almost 3 years.

Thank you everyone, especially Shootist16 for contributions here and to original link thread. I should like to find another plain edge large Wegner too. It is classic production folder, too bad its sales did not justify its production costs which must be high.
