Dawson's interpretation of both the Roman gladius and Japanese ninjato is intriguing and well executed. The grinds are excellent, and the swords feel nicely balanced in the hand. The choice of differentially heat treating Magnacut to 61-62 HRC should provide a good balance of toughness and wear resistance. Both swords came shaving sharp with symmetrical bevels. The accompanying kydex scabbards secure the blades without chatter and are designed for both belt and Molle attachment. Dawson offers a variety of exotic finishes, but the classic satin is perfect for these hollow ground blades.
