The large plain fits more comfortably in my hand with the staggered recess. The Classic 2000 deep notch can be noticeable after heavy outward strokes. I have notice no significant diference in blade performance. The Classic 2000 wieghs less and the handles are not as wide (thinner handle - belly to back).
Hard to say which is a preference - both are nice.
One note, the small Classic 2000 with the single indentation fits better than the regular in the hand. The pivot screw is closer to your index finger compared to the regular small.
