Greetings all,

Here's a peek at a piece that recently arrived at my doorstep.

I have admired many of the knives posted by Claudio on the forums, and asked him to keep me in mind on future available pieces that combined certain design elements from past work - a slightly upswept clip point blade, small rounded double guard and contoured, but not deeply carved handle.

He recently sent me a pic of such a piece, and I decided I needed to have the real thing.

The knife features an 8 3/4" laminate blade (13 3/4" OAL) with forge-texture finish, the aforementioned double guard and black micarta handle. Micarta isn't generally my thing, but I thought it really worked with this piece which has a serious - almost sinister - persona. An if you don't let the contemporary materials distract you, there are some classic Scagel-like lines at play here.

I'm very impressed with the execution of this knife. The handle feels every bit as comfortable as it looks. The overall fit and finish are beyond reproach. The heft / balance seem to straddle the line between bowie and fighter. A simple, but very cleanly-executed black leather sheath (not shown) accompanied the knife. The design and materials combine to make this a great piece for the bug-out bag. Should the zombies ever invade, I'll be ready.

Claudio - it was a pleasure - thanks again. This impresses a quality knife and an extremely solid value.

That is beautiful! Congratulations to both you and Claudio.

I greatly admire your taste in knives sir.

Roger

That looks like something I would just love

Great knife my friend truly :)

This guy makes some of the best knives in the world. Always love to see his work here. Congrats!

Sinister was the word that came to mind when I saw the picture also! VERY nice acquisition Roger!

I've been admiring Claudio's laminated blades since he began posting pictures of them.

Claudio's knives always tickle my "I want that" spot.

One of my favorite makers.

Roger, the pleasure is mine, thank you very much for everything and enjoy!
Greetings to all

Roger,

Black micarta with a single pin looks great with the laminated forge finish blade.
Outstanding addition to your collection.
Congrats to both of you !

I would love to have a blade by him, he has the laminate blade perfected, his subhilt fighters are beyond incredible

"The heft / balance seem to straddle the line between bowie and fighter." You have a nice way with words Roger. It looks just like a knife I would be very happy to own. The micarta is sweet. The Wheeler/ Paranee collaboration fighter opened my eyes up to its use on an upscale fighter.

Like you, micarta isn't my thing with the custom fighters/bowies, unless I want something to totally beat the brush with. But, if it is ever going to make a non-believer believe, it does for me here! Wow, that is an awesome acquisition, Roger. I like everything about it. The size, handle contours, smaller guard, blade profile all make me smile. Great addition!
