Greetings all,
Here's a peek at a piece that recently arrived at my doorstep.
I have admired many of the knives posted by Claudio on the forums, and asked him to keep me in mind on future available pieces that combined certain design elements from past work - a slightly upswept clip point blade, small rounded double guard and contoured, but not deeply carved handle.
He recently sent me a pic of such a piece, and I decided I needed to have the real thing.
The knife features an 8 3/4" laminate blade (13 3/4" OAL) with forge-texture finish, the aforementioned double guard and black micarta handle. Micarta isn't generally my thing, but I thought it really worked with this piece which has a serious - almost sinister - persona. An if you don't let the contemporary materials distract you, there are some classic Scagel-like lines at play here.
I'm very impressed with the execution of this knife. The handle feels every bit as comfortable as it looks. The overall fit and finish are beyond reproach. The heft / balance seem to straddle the line between bowie and fighter. A simple, but very cleanly-executed black leather sheath (not shown) accompanied the knife. The design and materials combine to make this a great piece for the bug-out bag. Should the zombies ever invade, I'll be ready.
Claudio - it was a pleasure - thanks again. This impresses a quality knife and an extremely solid value.
