Clay hardened--the ridged layer effect!!

By applying the clay over a period of a couple of days, in successively higher "ridges" you can get the steel to produce a multipal hardening line with quite a bit of secondary highlights. Apply the first layer over the complete area to be protected. The second application is applied a half inch above the first clay edge. Let this dry, bring it up to temperature, dust on a little borax, to protect the steel surface and to lock the clay in place. Put blade in your favorite quench. Fred

Cool! Hamons are so tough. I had amazing luck my first attempt and i've been trying to re-create it ever since....hahah! I will have to try
that method....
 
I'm not sure I understand what I'm looking for...can you explain in more detail? (re: the images)
