There is a Thread over in the Emerson Forum where someone was asking about BaliSongs, and I related what I saw in Atlanta. While composing my thoughts for what I wanted to put down, I came to the conclusion that Clay should really try to get his name in The Guinness Book of World Records. What do you guys that have also witnessed Clay drop-pop a Bali into reverse grip think?

If the category does not exist, they could invent it. Hell, they have categories for everything.

VIVA MASTER CLAY!!!! M)THERF*CKER YEAH!!!!

Oh yeah! I'm into it.......

But I think we'd have a better shot at getting the Guinness people to accept the "longest continuous Balisong freestyle routine".

A marathon of Balisong techniques, just to see how long I can actually go for. What do ya' think?? We could do it at Atlanta this year. Maybe even get some TV exposure. They do still have that TV show right??

I think THAT would be more their style, don't you??

Either way, I'm game!

getting 'em open
is half the fun!

Clay, I think they might be interested in both. Speed impresses them as well, and there (obviously) exists timers and cameras that could capture it. You would have to learn how to drop that Bali in reverse grip on a cue, however. Start practicing.

We have almost 9,000 Members at BFC, that is quite a community, isn't it? If we started a campaign to have you recognized, they might go for it.

Also, it might actually put the knife in a good light. As something that requires skill to operate, especially after the horrid exposure it has gained in films like, "10 to Midnight."

Something to think about.

How about the most number of manuvers in a time limit never repeating the same move twice! That would be really cool. Could you just imagine the sound??

That sounds sweet. Clay you should go for that. I havent seen that show in a long time, maybe they just cancelled it in my area? That would be awesome to watch, especially since i cant see the freestyle videos at BX.com

Now we just gotta find some Record book people.

I htink Speed might be the way to go.. speed and numbers.. I woudl hate to see some college schmuck outdo you cause he didn't have anything to do for 2 days straight and decided to go for the longest routine.

I have never seen someone pop a BaliSong open that fast. I have seen people who could do damn near everything else with them, tossing them behind their back and catching them and all that. But never open one that fast.

i should be in the guinest book for being the stupidest person to order 3 rostfries on the 5th and they haven't even arrived!

Any such show is very unlikely to happen at Bladeshow in Atlanta. I can't even get a simple demonstration set up. Keep in mind that balisongs are illegal in Georgia.

But the Oregon Knife Collector's Show is very receptive. Besides, if you're looking to buy collectible balisongs, the OKCA show is the place to go anyway. There were dozens of highly collectible balis at last years OKCA show and only maybe five or six at Bladeshow.

Great idea guys!

Hey Chuck, do have any info. on the next OKCA show or where I can get some info. on it?

April 21 and 22 in Eugene, Oregon.

This is a knives and closely-knife-related items only show. Only a few manufacturers set up modest displays because this is a collectible and custom knife show, not a tradeshow.

Good topic!
Seeing Clay in Atlanta was a highlight of the trip for sure

One way or another, I think that Clay could gain an incredible amount of recognition for his skills. At the same time I know Clay would want it done in a manner that would positively promote knives and their owners.
All it would take is one good promo and we would be seeing him on Letterman, Lano and the BIG SCREEN

Does anyone know a good agent??

I was not aware that BaliSongs were illegal in Georgia for even possession. You can own them and sell them in Maryland.

I saw many Police Officers at the Show, none said a word. Strange.

Hey Chuck, are you sure about them being illegal in Georgia? I'm from Georgia and they sell them everywhere. I've even looked up the laws and all it says is that you cannot carry concealed an "offensive or defensive" knife. You could have one on your belt in full view and it would be legal. There's nothing about owning one. Where did you hear about this?
