Anyone know if this would work in a garage while grinding to keep the air clean?

http://www.grizzly.com/products/G1163

I was thinking of installing a sheetmetal funnel to this and positioning it under the contact wheel to collect micarta, steel, dust, etc. Would this be satisfactory? Is it just for wood? Or will it work with sanding belt debris, micarta and steel as well?

Thanks!

Flat, I just purchased a similar unit from craftsman a few weeks ago. In is nearly identical. It has an adjustable arm that has a funnel on it from craftsman, already installed. It moves 600 cfm. 50% more than the griz. It is at sears hardware for 132..00 or 139.00. I forget which. I don't use it for steel dust, but it works fantastic for micarta, ivory, stag, wood. Glad I bought it. the bag is rated at 30 micron. Mike

I have been using this same unit for 8 or 10 years. Got it hooked up to a surface grinder and two belt grinders. I threw the bag away and piped the exhaust out the side of my shop with 5'' galvanized pipe. I ran 4'' thin wall PVC pipe to the machines for dust pick up. Grizzly make larger units also and I will upgrade one day.
