I picked up this project knife for $5 tip is broke, and scale needs re-pinned. Ebony scales. Google clean cutlery co and I get a ton of stuff on how to clean silverware. Add Olean Ny and get allot of Union/Ka-Bar stuff, if anyone has info I'd appreciate it
Thank, David

Yep. Olean. 1911-1914 according to Goins.

Edited to add a little more info from Goins:

The city directory first lists Olean at Ninth Street, corner of Wayne. In 1914, at 434 Ninth North. W.R. Brown was the manager. Brown was also president of the Union Cutlery Company, in Olean at 436-438 Ninth North, at the same time. These knives are usually marked "Olcut."

Very cool, had no idea it was that old. I don't think mine ever had the "Olcut" stamp, its blank above the "OLEAN CUTLERY CO." other than the broke tip, and pin the rest is in good shape. Little real light pitting, mostly just dark patina. No grinder marks anywhere. Maybe the Olcut was etched on the blade where the patina is dark. Now a question, would you repair/re-profile the tip? Or should I just leave as is? The scales need re-pinned for sure only one pin is intact. But pretty sure its bent as the scales don't line up, and the guard is askew. Like the guard has been struck hard enough to shift the scale and shear a pin.
