I have just stripped (or is that striped) down my sebenza and given it a thorough cleaning and relube before I put it back together.

To a mechanically challeneged person such as myself this gives a deep and meaningfull level of satisfaction especially when it is soooo smooth afterwards

Sad but true :D

Personally, I don't care to own folders that I cannot take down or work on myself. While many other folders are "takedownable ;)," the Seb shines brightest in this area as it is made to do so.

Things that are rarely mentioned in regard to the genius of the Seb design are things like:

*all fasteners are the same size, so if you mix them up, no biggie

*bronze washers are thick, and do not malform or bend easily

*screws and screw backing-heads are ramped and self-adjusting for long-term precision in terms of frame alignment, even in lieu of frequent disassembly

*you can order spare parts from CRK: I have a spare stop sleeve, and extra set of screws and backings, an extra blade bushing, and an extra backspacer; I tend to drop things in unforgiving places.

All in all, these things, along with state of the art materials, and CRK's relentless pursuit of perfection as well as my own, make the Seb a natural carry for me. Besides that, I, like you, just like to take stuff apart.

I carry mine in a wood shop. Lot's of dust! One of the Best things about the Sebenza is that you can clean it, completely clean it, all by your bad self. Pile that on top of the quality in materials and engineering.......tough to beat a Sebbie.

Thanks Professor

That is what I love about this forum, you learn something new every time you visit.

I laid out the screws in a line in case I get them mixed up

I treated the washers as if made of glass

I think I will try and get a set of spares as small parts I have removed from whatever seem to disapear into the twilight zone at the drop of a hat.

That's what I love about this place too. It took two years of posts to turn me on to the Sebenza, but I made the jump and never looked back. It's the little touches that make it evident that Chris put a lot of time into its design...
