I have one of the Harbor Freight belt cleaners, the ones that look like a large gum eraser, and I use it to clean my Work Sharp belts.

The problem is that the cleaner itself has gotten pretty filthy---covered with a very sticky residue.

I would appreciate any suggestions on how best to "clean the cleaner". I have a jug of Goo Gone, but the label says not for use on rubber.

Thanks,

Andrew

Pull the stuff off with your fingers. I suppose you could cut it off but I've never had to do that.

Cut off that sticky layer or just buy a new one.
The erasers from grizzly and all of the other wood & metal companies are better than quality than HF.

Thanks, gents. I just saw some online, including at the Grizzly website, that are mounted on wooded paddles. I guess that way, when they get all sticky at least you can keep it off your hands!

I really was hoping there was some solvent which would get rid of it. I guess I could try good ole WD-40.

Trim it with a knife, or easiest is to run it against a new, coarse belt.
