I'm heading to the legendary crappie lake, Reelfoot Lake. Outside of my rapala fillet knifes, I will need some general knifes for cleaning and scaling crappie I hope. It will potentially be over 100 fish for the week.

Which of the following would you carry and why? Help me select a knife.

Gerger AR 3.0 w' AUS 8.

Kershaw leek w' 440A.

Spyderco Native w' SV30C.

Buck 501 w' 420 HC.

Boker 4" trapper that was my grandfathers. Carbon

Schrade 4" stockman that was my granfathers. Carbon

Any thoughts?

Leave the heirlooms at home. I would say, if you don't mind the blade getting etched by the water, use the Native.

Frost stainless Clipper. Why?, because it's easy to clean in the field. No unsanitary fish guts in the works.

Good luck with the papermouths. I would be out to, if it weren't for the blowing snow, 30 degree temps, and my tremendous dislike for cold weather. Maybe next weekend.
